Blackbelt Benefit Group has an event coming up on Oct. 17th in which we showcase local farms and give people an opportunity to learn about farming activities.
That Saturday morning at 8 AM, we’ll offer a choice of four workshops: Cob Oven Building with Joseph Pierce, Fruit Tree Care and Grafting with James Miles, Introduction to Permaculture with Scott Church, or the Spencer Farm Tour with Chip Spencer. Following the workshops, everybody will meet in front of the lake for a farm to table brunch and a “roundtable” discussion with Alabama Agriculture Network.
That evening at 4 PM, there will be a farm to table dinner created by Chefs Mac Russell and Chad Schofield of Shindigs Catering, followed by a speaking engagement with Jason Powell of Petals from the Past and a concert by Alabama School of Fine Arts Symphony.
If you’re interested in getting tickets, sponsoring, or volunteering, let us know by the end of the week! We’d love for you to join us!
P.S. If you’re planning on going to the Morgan Academy 50th Anniversary that night, we should be done in just enough time to get back and enjoy the music!
