We hope you will join us for an exciting afternoon at the Museum on March 14, 2015 at 2 P.M.
Please bring a typed response to the following question:
The Civil Rights Movement involved a variety of actions by many people who wanted change. If you were involved in such a movement, how would you want to participate? What would you do?
• Essays by Middle School students should be 300 – 500 words.
• Essays by High school students should be 500 – 600 words.
• Prizes (including cash) will be awarded.
Our featured guest will be Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s “Smallest Freedom Fighter” Sheyann Webb-Christburg, co-author of the book, Selma, Lord, Selma. After the movie, there will be a discussion with Mrs. Webb-Christburg. Docent led tours of the exhibition will follow Mrs. WebChristburg. The day will conclude with a reception.
Essay winners will be announced at the Museum’s Family Art Affair: Civil Rights on March 22 from 2 to 4 P.M.
