And, we would really appreciate it if you would share this email with friends and family.
One of the ways we are able to keep our ticket costs reasonable is by the word-of-mouth “advertizing” we receive.

Thanks…and, come see WHAT’S BEHIND THE RED DOOR!

CONECUH PEOPLE

April 23-25 & May 2- 3, 2015

The Red Door Theatre

located @ Prairie Street & US 82 ~ Union Springs, Alabama

After a five-year hiatus, the play that started it all is returning to the stage of the Red Door Theatre. “Conceuh People” is an original theatrical production that tells the poignant story of a boy’s adolescence and two events—one good and one bad—that shaped his life.

When you attend “Conecuh People,” adapted by playwright Ty Adams from Bullock County native Wade Hall’s autobiographical book, Conecuh People: Words of Life from the Alabama Black Belt (New South Books), you will feel yourself slipping back in time. Visiting the 1940s and ’50s, you meet young Wade and the many colorful folks he knew and loved. And much of it is told through their own words, words Hall tape-recorded in visits with them in the 1970s as a way to ensure these mostly poor and functionally illiterate people were not forgotten. The show also features a variety of live music–some favorite old hymns and some original music–performed by area musicians. As audiences see Hall mature, they meet real people from Bullock County and learn why each was so endearing to this young man.
