Born Virginia Scott in Jefferson Alabama (Marengo County), Virginia is married to Joseph Norman from Demopolis, Alabama. They currently reside in Jefferson, Alabama and have raised five children, Todd 26, Felton 23, Devin 20, Kevin 15 and a niece named Jacqueline whose mother was killed in a car accident when Jackie was eight years old. She is caregiver for her mother Ludie Scott which is eighty-five years old and her aunt Rachel Miller which is eighty-six years old.
Virginia worked at Bryan Whitfield Hospital for eighteen years where she received awards such as employee of the month and employee of the year on several occasions. After twenty one years of working at the hospital, she deemed it necessary to accept a position that was offered by one of the physicians that was located near the hospital. Virginia had worked there for six years when she felt she had another purpose in life and followed her belief that she could help people in and around her area by going back to school for Psychology and Sociology and hopefully ending with a counseling and therapy license to help underprivileged people that could not afford to go to other areas for counseling. Virginia received her degree from The University of West Alabama with a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a minor in Sociology. Virginia is currently in the Counseling/Psychology Masters program at the University of West Alabama. In 2005 she received Student of the year for Student Support Success at The University of West Alabama, Who’s who among college students, and became a Member of Psi Chi (an Honor society for Psychology Students with a GPA of 3.5 or above).
The community that she lives in requires a lot of her time where she is director over student tutoring and special needs for children and seniors. Virginia is a member of the Murray’s chapter # 554 order of Eastern Stars, a Board Member for Braxton Senior Daycare, Vice President of The Business and Professional Business Women Organization, Treasurer of The Southern Women League, and Board Member with Habitat for Humanity of Demopolis.
