In response to the devastating tornadoes and storms on January 12, 2023, Black Belt Community Foundation (BBCF) immediately accessed the “Communities Helping Communities Disaster Fund.” This fund was created in 2008 to aid Black Belt communities in disasters and will now be used for the affected areas of Dallas, Greene, Hale, Marengo, Perry and Sumter counties. BBCF, at the request of the Mayor of the City of Selma, partnered for the launch of the “Selma Rebuild and Recovery Fund.”
