Give for Good is our month-long season of generosity focused on strengthening the Black Belt through three areas of impact — Good Communities, Good Families, and Good Futures. It’s a time when we invite everyone to support the work that feels most meaningful to them.
Today is Giving Tuesday — a day when people across the country come together to support the causes they care about. Here in the Black Belt, we’re inviting you to Give for Good. Whether you’re strengthening communities, supporting the next generation of leaders, or helping families thrive, your gift — of time, effort, or resources — makes a real difference right here at home. Thank you for joining us in this movement.
And because generosity isn’t only financial, we’ve also included a list of non-monetary ways to give below so everyone has a way to take part this season.
Give for Good highlights three areas of impact you can support throughout the holiday season.
Each of these “Goods” reflects real needs and real opportunities across the Black Belt. Because needs vary by community, your support helps us respond where it matters most, in the way that feels right to you.
Support our Community Grants program, which lifts up local nonprofits, neighborhood projects, and efforts that strengthen daily life in each county we serve. When you give, you’re able to direct your support to the county that matters most to you.
Even with strong work already happening on the ground, community needs often outpace available funding — which makes donor-directed giving especially meaningful.
Example ways your gift could support community efforts:
Support the next generation of leaders in the Black Belt. When you give to the Felecia L. Lucky Fellows Program, you help honor Felecia’s legacy by investing in young changemakers who are committed to strengthening their communities.
Your support helps cultivate leadership, expand opportunity, and carry forward a vision of a more resilient Black Belt.
Example ways your gift could support future leaders:
Provide help where it’s needed most through the Food for Families Fund, including seasonal support like our BBCF Head Start Angel Tree project.
Because needs for food and holiday support can shift quickly and sometimes go unreported, gifts to the Food for Families Fund and the Head Start Angel Tree allow us to provide help where it matters most.
Example ways your gift could make a difference:
Those closest to the work know its impact best. Here’s why BBCF staff and board members choose to Give for Good, and why this region inspires their commitment.
Your support doesn’t have to be financial. Share BBCF’s mission with friends and family, follow and boost our posts on social media, or volunteer at a Head Start center with your time or donated supplies. In-kind gifts make a difference. You can also support local food banks, get involved in community projects, or apply for a BBCF grant this spring if your group is working to strengthen the Black Belt.
Proudly share your support! Download our Give for Good badges and logos to post on social media, celebrate your impact, and inspire others to join in. Whether you’ve given time, effort, or a gift, you’re part of the movement.
